Bumblebird update

You may recall that last Autumn we sowed just under an acre of bumblebird see mix with the aim of helping our pollinators and over wintering birds. The odd bare patch of ground notwithstanding, it seems to have been a great success and really rather lovely. Most importantly, the bumblebees absolutely love it!

Yellow rattle

Success! An evening wander through the meadow we sowed early last winter uncovered a welcome sight – the first yellow rattle emerging through the grass and buttercups! While there is a long way to go to restore species diversity to this particular corner of the farm, it’s an important and encouraging first step!
